The Green
The green is now closed. Thanks to Ian and everyone else who helped with the work on and off the green – hollow tining, seeding and top dressing the green, amongst other duties.
DBC AGM
The club’s AGM will take place on Sunday 6 November in the Pool Room of the Woodbourne Pub – 7.30pm start. Any notices of motion must be submitted to Paula by 29 October. Motions can be sent to 37 Palatine Road, Douglas, IM2 3BQ or via email: paula@garfam.co.uk
To help speed up the evening’s proceedings, it would be helpful if all teams could elect next season’s captains prior to the evening.
Codes of Conduct
This year the club signed up to the IOMCCGBA Charter and, as part of the terms and conditions, the club has to have a code of conduct – a copy of the Adults and Young Players codes of conduct are attached to this newsletter. Please have a read through and familiarise yourself with these codes.
We also have codes for Parents/Carers & Spectators and Coaches & Club Officials which are displayed on the club’s noticeboard.
DBC Christmas Dinner
The club’s annual Christmas Dinner will take place on Saturday 3 December at the Palace Hotel – 7.30pm start. It’s a three-course carvery with coffee/tea and mince pie for £21.95. Partners are welcome. Please let Paula know on 411300 if you wish to attend. Payment will be required prior to the event by cash or cheque (payable to Paula Garrett)
D Team
Next year, the club will be entering a D team into the Men’s night-league D team. If anyone is interested in playing or knows anyone who would like to start bowling please let Paula know on 411300. It’s hoped that we will be able to get the team together for coaching and practising prior to the start of the season – more info to follow early next year.
Ladies’ Association dates:
- Presentation evening – Friday 21 October, 7.30pm, Manx Legion. Janet needs to know numbers by Friday 14 October so please let Paula know if you wish to go.
- Coffee morning – Saturday 3 December, 10am-12pm, St Andrews Church Hall
Club Shirts
We still have a few shirts available at a cost of £12 each and will be placing an order for more just before the start of the season. If anyone would like a shirt please contact Paula.
