Personal information is collected via a membership application form in order for us to register you as a member. - Contact form
Personal information is collected via our contact form. You can choose to restrict the amount of personal information shared with us. - Comments
When visitors leave comments on this website, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. - Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

We occasionally send out newsletters informing members of what’s happening at the Douglas Bowling Club. If you have agreed to receive these emails, you can always opt-out at a later date.

Controlling your personal information
Who we share your data with
To play bowls, you will need to be registered with the British Crown Green Bowling Association (BCGBA). When you fill in a registration form, your information will be passed to the Isle of Man County Crown Green Bowling Association (IOMCCGBA) county registrar to register you and obtain a registration number.
Douglas Bowling Club will retain and process the information provided by you on your application form solely for the means of communicating with you. Your membership application form will be kept and the information on it will be stored electronically. Your membership details will be passed to the British Crown Green Bowling Association (BCGBA) for their records, and your contact number will be passed to the team captains if required, but it will not be shared with any other parties.
Except for the IOMCCGBA and the BCGBA. we will not distribute, sell, or lease your personal information to third parties unless we are required by law to do so.
How long we retain your data
- Membership information
Your information will be automatically deleted, and your membership application form destroyed should your annual membership fees remain in arrears for 12 months, or you notify the secretary that you are leaving the club. - Website data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
You may request at any time by writing to or emailing the Secretary, sec@douglasbowls.club, that your information is deleted from Douglas Bowling Club’s records.
If you have previously agreed to us using your personal information for newsletter emails, and wish to change your mind, you may do so at any time. Email us at sec@douglasbowls.club
You have the right to request copies of the information we store about you.
