Douglas Bowling Club recently presented a cheque for £550 to the Manx Gateway Club at the Project 21 Building in Greenfield Road, Douglas.
The money was raised at the Douglas Town Cup event earlier this year and Paula Garrett and Gordon Wynne Smythe went as representatives of the Bowling Club to present the cheque to John Quayle who founded the Manx Gateway Club with others in 1974.
The Manx Gateway Club provide facilities for all those with additional needs to meet up for a couple of hours every week to have fun with their peers.
Since the opening of Centre 21 the Club has provided more varied activities for its members including Arts and Crafts and also a Drama section which puts on two annual performances and a special Carol Service by the wonderful Gateway Choir takes place every year. Another Annual event is the Gateway Games where members compete for medals in Athletics, Five a Side Football, Bowls and Swimming events.
