Okells Claret Jug Competition

13 November 2012 //  by Admin//  3 Comments

Here’s the latest news……

The competition is starting immediately after the presentations for the Festival winners.
We intend to use the 3 greens at Nobles plus the Villa to get the field down to 64 in one round.

Winners will then play down at the Villa in the evening to whittle the field down to 32.

We envisage concluding the competition mid afternoon on the Saturday. This will allow the visiting bowlers the opportunity to get off the rock by air or sea.

We now have the additional prizes of Furtherst Male and Female Visiting bowler. £50 each. Presented by VisitIsleOfMan.com.
£50 for the furthest Manxman. Presented by Dereck Williamson on behalf of his late brother
£50 for the furthest Manx Lady. Presented by John Gelling of DL Gelling Wholesalers.

Entries are still available.
Get yerselves in…. You can’t win if you’re not in!!

Good luck to everyone.

Douglas Bowling Club (‘TheVilla’), have, in conjunction with Okells, organised a competition to mark the club’s 125th Anniversary in 2013. Bear in mind that Douglas Bowling Club was founded by Dr. Okell and his Vice President at the Club was Mr Brearley.

The Okells Claret Jug Competition will take place on 21st & 22nd June 2013 following the June Festival.

Entry form is available by clicking on the ‘DBC Comp Entry Form’ tab below.

We’ll keep everyone up to date as we progress through the winter. To date VisitIsleofMan.com have put up 2 prizes for the best visiting lady and man in the competition. Mr Denis Williamson is going to present the Ken Williamson trophy to the furthest Manx male bowler. Still looking for a sponsor for the furthest Manx lady.

Winter well folks.

      Keep following Snowie.
We’ve hit the toughest trio straight out of the blocks.
So.. Getting the points we have is putting us in the right direction.

Well done to the C team for a solid performance on Tuesday against Port Erin B, fell just short of a hat-trick. Look likes a D team will be needed for next year as this team will be pushing for a high finish in 2014 !!
