Update to Newsletter November 2012

26 November 2012 //  by Admin//  Leave a Comment

Shelter….. Planning permission has been approved to have 3 of the sections of the shelter between the Pump Shed and the Green Door converted to a covered area for shelter for the bowlers.

Old Clubhouse…. Arrangements are being made to refurbish with new worktops and base units to check appropriateness for running the catering from that location.

Okells Claret Jug… The Competition is well under way. Tourist Board are doing the promotions via their newsletters and VisitIsleOfMan.com have introduced 2 additional prizes of £50 each for the furthest visiting male and female.

‘The Bowler’… This is a proposed new cask ale that the brewery are going to produce in conjunction with our 125th Anniversary. Some of this will be getting dispensed from the old clubhouse.

Green Edgings… Work is well under way and progress is steady. 2 complete outer edges have been replaced and work has commenced on the inside of  the edge running along the new clubhouse side of the green.

Floodlight Standards….. Bases all painted green. Cream uppers to be done.

Advertisers/Sponsors/Partners….. Brochure in production and should be ready in the very near future.  Our current advertisers are already lining up in readiness for 2013. This should give the Club a fresh injection of income for 2013.

Juniors/MSR….. We have agreed to allow the MSR to use the green for Junior bowling commencing in February 2013.

New Open Age C Team… Verbal interest in Dougl;as Bowling Club indicates a positive outcome for this newly created team.

New Over 60’s B Team…… Overspill and interest already starting .

Open Competitions….. With the production of the new Sponsors Brochure we are hoping to introduce some bigger and better Open Competitions to replace the ones we currently run. We desperately need a Ladies sponsor and are hoping to target a few potential sponsors in the coming months.

Fixture Books….. 2013 should see the re-introduction of Club handbooks that will include team fixtures, Committee contacts and a copy of the Club rules. These will hopefully be ready in good time for each member to have a copy as they pay their subs for 2013.

125th Anniversary Clebrations…….. Any suggestions??? Write them on the back of the sheet and hand them to the Secretary and The Committee will give them some serious thought over the coming winter months ready for next year.
