The start of the new season is almost upon us and hopefully you have all wintered well.
The Green
The green will open on Sunday 20 March, so get yourself down for a practice. Do be aware that the green will be unavailable every Saturday between 10.30am and 12pm until 30 April for MSR Manx Youth Games coaching.
Easter Egg Roll – Sunday 3 April
The Easter Egg roll will take place on Sunday 3 April. Yes, I know Easter will have been and gone by then but the committee felt that members would have too many commitments on Easter Sunday. The roll will kick off at 1pm – the draw for pairs will take place at 12.50pm, so please be at the green by 12.45pm. The afternoon will be run in a round robin format – a great way to get to know your fellow members. Entry is £2 and everyone gets an Easter Egg – the winners will receive larger eggs and the Manx American trophy.
Food will be available on the day – likely to be pasty and cake.
We’ve booked good weather so come along for a roll – you can even pay your club fees too! After the Easter Egg Roll we will be adjourning to the Woodbourne Pub for a pre-season friendly drink.
Membership fees
Full members: £50, Juniors: £10, New bowlers: £35 for the first year, Social bowlers: £20.

Work on the green
This year we are employing someone to spray the green with fertiliser, feed and other treatments. This will take place when there are no matches, however, providing you are not in the way, you will be able to play while the green is being sprayed.
Monday afternoon bowling
The plan is to try to run a round robin on a Monday afternoon, but this will depend on the amount of members willing to support it. If you have any friends who are keen to play bowls, feel free to bring them along on a Monday afternoon.
The first Monday round robin will be held on 11 April – 1pm start.
Open competitions
Douglas is holding two open mixed doubles competitions this year, the first of which is sponsored by DMS Autocentre and will take place on Saturday 16 April. The entry form will be in the clubhouse, so put your name down. If you don’t have a partner, contact Stuart on 241127 and he’ll try to fix you up with one.
