Brilliant sunshine saw the inaugural running of the Douglas Town Cups. These trophies were kindly donated by Douglas Borough Council to celebrate Douglas Bowling Clubs 125th Anniversary.
Both competitions are run in tandem with each other and make for some entertaining bowling for the full afternoon.
In the Ladies event it came down to the family affair with Janet Monk getting the better of her mother Lilian Slinger.
In the Men’s event Dave Kelly had to see off a spirited fight by his club president Roy Williams to get to the final and Neil Withers saw off his team mate Colin Kelly to come up against a resurgent Dave Kelly who got the better of Neil 21-15.
The trophies were presented by Deputy Mayor Stan Cain with Roy Williams President of Douglas Bowling Club.
Special thanks to the 2 main sponsors Christine Fargher of AutoCrash Ltd and Damien Trimble of D Trimble Building Services Ltd. The event was run really effectively by Mark Kneen and Matthew Keggen and big thanks to the ladies and gents who helped around the green and in the catering hut.
